About Dr. Assad Qureshi
Dr. Assad Qureshi is a Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon practicing in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. He was born in the United Kingdom and completed his Medical Degree at Kings College London. Following this, he completed his basic and higher surgical training in the East Midlands with Membership and Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. During his training, he completed a B.Sc. in Neuroscience from Guy’s Hospital and went on to complete an M.Sc. in Orthopedic Engineering from Cardiff University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Nottingham. He undertook the prestigious National Fellowship in Pediatric Orthopedics at Sheffield Children’s Hospital and was then appointed Clinical Lead for Pediatric Orthopedics at University Hospitals of Leicester – a regional tertiary referral center for complex Pediatric Orthopedics.
Dr. Qureshi believes in optimizing outcomes through exceptional multi-disciplinary care involving dedicated pediatric physiotherapists, orthotists, occupational therapists, neurologists, intensivists, and rehabilitation medicine.
Based in the vibrant multi-cultural city of Dubai, Dr. Qureshi’s practice is a global center for complex Pediatric Orthopedics for international patients. Dr. Qureshi has treated children from over 70 Nationalities with many patients travelling specifically to the UAE for treatment. He is solely focused on Pediatric Orthopedics with specific areas of specialism.
- Pediatric Hip Dysplasia – Treatment of early and delayed presentation of developmental hip dysplasia, revision surgery for residual dysplasia, and treatment of syndromic hip dysplasia.
- Clubfoot and Complex Pediatric Foot Deformity – Ponseti treatment for idiopathic clubfoot, treatment for relapsed clubfoot, surgical treatment of symptomatic flat foot, and serial casting followed by limited a la carte correction of complex foot deformity.
- Orthopedic Management in Cerebral Palsy – Treatment of hip disorders in children who are wheelchair users, assessment and treatment of gait impairment in children who have walking ability or potential in Cerebral palsy.
- Pediatric Limb Deformity Correction and Lengthening – Growth modulation for Limb Deformity and Circular Frame treatment for Limb Deformity and Shortening.
- Pediatric Fractures and Dislocations – Closed treatment of supracondylar fractures, Complex elbow injuries, Long bone fractures, and growth plate-related injuries.
Qualifications
Qualification and Experience
Dr. Qureshi completed his basic and higher surgical training in the East Midlands. He was successfully appointed as the National Fellow at Sheffield Children’s Hospital in Pediatric Orthopedics. The National Fellowship is the flagship fellowship for Pediatric Orthopedics since its inception as the first dedicated fellowship for Pediatric Orthopedics in the United Kingdom. Dr. Qureshi trained under the internationally renowned faculty to develop advanced skills in treating complex Pediatric Orthopedic conditions.
After completing the National fellowship, Dr. Qureshi was appointed as a Consultant Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon at University Hospitals of Leicester – the first Consultant appointment solely dedicated to Pediatric Orthopedics. He went on to serve as Clinical Lead for Pediatric Orthopedics setting up a Tertiary referral center for complex pediatric orthopedics serving a population of over 1.5 million across Leicestershire and Northamptonshire. He setup the first one stop baby hip dysplasia clinic and Ponseti clinic in Leicestershire and introduced single stage hip reconstruction for the management of late presenting hip dysplasia. He was a Faculty member for the regional Gait analysis multi disciplinary team meeting in Royal Derby Hospital and set the trend for Single event multi-level surgery for Cerebral Palsy.
